Alignment: Grouping Like Elements

Dividing the Space > Grouping Like Elements

The information below is grouped using many different types of alignments. Different alignments work together sometimes when there is a well thought-out pattern used. Here the different styles of type elements and their placement create confusion for the viewer.

USING DESIGN TO IMPROVE FLOW
Unity
Keep sizes of elements uniform

White Space
Provide rest areas for users' eyes

USING FONTS—

LESS IS MORE

I like to use no more than 2 good fonts on any design piece. I choose fonts with different features that have variety within the font. With CSS we have more freedom to choose fonts. However, we are still limited by what fonts people have on their computers. The most common browser fonts are Franklin Gothic

Proximity
Keep related elements near one another

Focal Point
Direct the flow using emphasis

Perspective
Direct the viewer’s eye—add depth

Alignment
Group items of similar shape and size

Be consistent. Take an organized approach. Use hierarchy.
